Charles Edward Williams holds an MFA from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, NC and a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA.

Creating compelling landscapes with oils, Williams sets out to capture the human emotive responses of the natural environment. Williams’ honors include receiving the Hudson River Landscape Fellowship (Hunter, NY) and a summer residency at McColl Center of Art and Innovation (Charlotte, NC). His work was recently exhibited at Aqua and Scope Art Fair / Art Basel (Miami, FL). He has had several solo exhibitions including at the Myrtle Beach Art Museum (Myrtle Beach, SC), the Morris Museum of Art (Augusta, GA), the Gibbes Museum of Art (Charleston, SC), and Winthrop University (Rock Hill, SC).

Williams’ works have been reviewed in regional and national publications and media, including the Washington Post, NPR, and South Carolina’s ETV network (PBS affiliate). Permanent collections include the North Carolina Museum of Art (NC), the Gibbs Museum (SC), Knoxville Museum of Art (TN), and the Petrucci Family Foundation Collection of African American Art (NJ). Williams also received the Riley Institute Diversity Leadership Award from the State of the South Carolina for the development of enriching art programs within local communities.
